Medium: Fiber & Textile Conversation Accessories

I love to create colorful wall hangings and unusual art-to-wear accessories, like scarves, hats, and jewelry in sort of a mixed media collage of fiber and textiles. All of my work is spontaneous and unpredictable with an emphasis on playfulness. I often have referred to my work as "the art of imperfection" because I don't follow patterns and let the piece discover itself sometimes through a direction that emerges out of pure experimentation. The textiles are often re-purposed and transformed through different treatments like dyeing and painting, or simply by an array of embellishments, free form needlework and doddle crochet.
I am also the person behind ManicMoonStudios - a whimsical little underground gallery that features private art openings seven months out of the year, two days a month. This is when I showcase my work and the works of mostly female local artists and artisans. The rest of the time, I utilize the space as my working studio and do a few outside shows a year. This is the first year that I will be part of the Town and Country Studio Tour and I am really looking forward to it.
